Three die in plane crash

Three people die in a plane crash near Provo Airport. All victims from Utah County.

On Thursday, April 17, 2003 at approximately 5:39 P.M. the Utah County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding a plane that had gone down just north of the Provo Airport.

Emergency Personnel from Provo and the Sheriff's Office responded to North Boat Harbor Drive where they found the burning remains of a twin engine Cesna 310 Airplane.

The Detectives Divsion along with the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash site. The National Transportation Safety Board will be responding to assist in the investigation early Friday morning.

Detectives indicated that the plane was in the process of preparing to land when the plane went down. The exact cause of the crash will be determined by the F.A.A. and the N.T.S.B. A report is expected within a month.

All three were experienced pilots with one of the three working on an advanced rating.

The victims of the crash were, Michael Burk-47 years old from Pleasant Grove, Utah/ Todd Heiner-42 years old from Provo, Utah/ Jared Jorgensen-32 years old from Orem, Utah.

The Sheriff's Office would like extend condolences to the victims families.
