Residential Fire in West Mountain Area

Posted On : 7/18/2012 12:13:47 PM

A residential fire broke out in the West Mountain area of Utah County this morning.

At 08:17 hours, on 07/18/12, the Utah Valley Dispatch Center received a phone call reporting that a home was on fire on 5600 West, in the West Mountain area of Utah County. Very quickly, the home became engulfed in flames and was completely destroyed as a result of the fire. Fortunately, nobody was injured and no other structures or residences in the area were damaged. While there was one male occupant at the residence when the fire erupted, he was working outside of the home at that time.

Payson fire department personnel responded and were able to successfully extinguish the fire. At this time, Utah County Sheriff's office detectives are investigating the incident but do not believe it to be suspicious in nature. Preliminarily, it is thought to be as a result of mechanical issues. They are also in the process of notifying the owners of the residence who are currently out of town.

Photographs of the fire are attached to this news release.
