Are you or a family member in need of a Pertussis (aka, whooping cough) vaccination? The Utah County Health Department will be holding a special community immunization clinics on May 10th from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at Forbes Elementary School (281 North 200 East, American Fork).

Besides Pertussis and other school vaccines, UCHD nurses administer adult and adolescent vaccines such as flu, pneumonia, tetanus and diphtheria. The Vaccine for Children (VFC) program offers discounted vaccines for kids that qualify, or the UCHD accepts Altius, BlueCross/BlueShield, Cigna, DMBA/Deseret Secure, EMI, Humana, SelectHealth, Medicare/Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicaid/PCN, Molina Healthy kids, PEHP and United Health Care. The UCHD also conducts daily clinics in American Fork and Provo -- for complete list of times and locations, please see www.utahcountyhealth.org/immunizations or call 801-851-7025. To speed up your visit, individuals are encouraged to download the paperwork, print it and have it filled it out before arrival (also available from the web site).

Many diseases, such as pertussis, measles, and chicken pox, are easily preventable through vaccination. That is why Kindergarten register requires your child to be up to date on their immunizations, and why the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends immunizations for most individuals. Visit www.utahcountyhealth.org/immunizations for links to school requirements as well as CDC recommendations for children, adolescents, and adults.
