After fleeing to Mexico to avoid prosecution aggravated child sex abuse charges, a Pleasant Grove man was arrested in Mexico and returned to the Utah County Jail.
On December 30, 2008 Jesse Amos Bunker, age 33, was arrested by the Pleasant Grove Police Department, booked into the Utah County Jail, and charged with 10 First Degree Felony counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child. Mr. Bunker posted $20,000 cash bail on March 20, 2009, and was released. Mr. Bunker missed his scheduled court date and shortly thereafter, fled to Mexico where he has been hiding and avoiding prosecution on these charges for the last 4 years. Joint Criminal Apprehension Team (JCAT) officers from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshal’s Service conducted an extensive and thorough investigation to ascertain the whereabouts of Mr. Bunker. After more than three years of investigation, officers finally located Mr. Bunker. With cooperation from Mexican law enforcement authorities, Mr. Bunker was arrested in Colima, Mexico and then deported to Los Angeles, CA where he was booked into the L.A. County Jail. Bunker was recently extradited and returned to the Utah County Jail on June, 17th, 2013.
