An 11 year old boy from Saint George sustained injuries to both legs in a boating accident on Utah Lake near American Fork boat harbor. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
On July 5, 2013, just before 3:00 P.M. Officers with Utah Lake State Park and Deputies with the Utah County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of a boating related injury near American Fork boat harbor. The uncle of an 11 year old Saint George boy called saying his nephew had sustained injuries from the boat prop while in the water. The boy was apparently in the water near the boat prop and others in the boat did not realize he was in the water. Someone started the motor and the boy suffered several significant injuries to his upper legs. American Fork Fire and Rescue personnel treated him at the boat harbor and initially called for a medical helicopter. That request for the helicopter was cancelled and he was transported by ambulance to American Fork Hospital. The boy's injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
