An Eagle Mountain man, one of Utah County's Most Wanted, was arrested and booked into jail on New Year's Eve for felony drug and DUI charges. He was also booked for two no bail warrants.
On December 31, 2014, shortly before 8:00 PM, a Deputy with the Utah County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle in Eagle Mountain that was driven by Leon I. Vasquez, age 35, of Eagle Mountain. Vasquez was found to have recently used heroin and had heroin and drug paraphernalia in his possession. The area of the stop was a Drug Free Zone. Vasquez was driving while his driver license was expired and revoked for a previous DUI conviction. Additionally any vehicle he drives is required to have an ignition interlock device installed. There was no such device installed in the vehicle Vasquez was driving. He also had no insurance for the vehicle.
Deputies who arrested Vasquez found that he had two no bail warrants for 3rd degree felony DUI out of 4th District Court in Provo. He was also listed as one of Utah County's Most Wanted fugitives. Those arrests occurred in 2012 and included charges similar to those for which he was arrested during this incident. Vasquez has at least two prior convictions for DUI, along with drug and domestic violence related charges. Vasquez was booked into the Utah County Jail on charges including Possession of Heroin-DFZ, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-DFZ, DUI-Metabolite, Ignition Interlock Violation, Alcohol Revoked Driver License, and Driving Without Insurance.
