Father's Day Seat Belt Campaign

Hey Fathers . . . Want stress-free style? Your seat belt goes with everything.

Commission Ellertson signs the Proclamation

Utah County Commissioners helped kick off the Utah Department of Public Safety's state-wide Father's Day Seat Belt Campaign this week. Tag line: "Unlike that tie, a seat belt goes with everything". The custom neck ties were worn by all 3 Commissioners at the Utah County Commission Meeting on Tuesday, June 16. The ties will be given to fathers over the Father's Day holiday to remind dads to buckle up and give families the opportunity to discuss seat belt usage. Fathers are asked to wear the tie on Father's day to show support in solidarity.

In 2014, nearly half of the 165 roadway fatalities were attributed to drivers or passengers not being buckled up. Wearing a seat belt is the number one safety measure we can take every time we get in the car and yet 17 percent of Utahns do not buckle up. Research has shown that our hardcore non-seat belt users are largely males 18-34 and males 55+.
