A 20 year old Spanish Fork man is dead after he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and crashed into a pickup truck on River Bottoms Road.
On October 24, 2015, a little before 8:00 PM, Deputies with the Utah County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a crash at about 1200 East River Bottoms Road near Spanish Fork. 20 year old Joseph Daniel Campbell, of Spanish Fork, was driving west at high speed when he was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and drove into oncoming traffic. Campbell lost control of his motorcycle, fell to the road, then slid underneath the front end of an oncoming pickup. The three occupants of the pickup were uninjured and they immediately began to render aid to Campbell, who sustained extensive trauma to his head and the rest of his body. The driver of the pickup backed his truck a few feet to be able to get to Campbell. The driver, along with others who stopped, administered CPR to Campbell. When Spanish Fork EMS personnel arrived they determined Campbell was deceased. The speed limit in this area is 25 MPH and Campbell was clearly exceeding that limit. This investigation will remain active as Deputies try to determine if alcohol or drugs might have been factors in this crash.
