At the recent Las Vegas Metro K9 Trials, the UCSO K9 Team walked away with 7 awards in areas ranging from tactical obedience, agility, handler protection and overall agency.

Provo - Over the last weekend, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office K9 Team participated in the 26th Annual, Las Vegas Metro Police Department K9 Trails. This competition was hosted by Las Vegas Metro Police Department and consisted of numerous intermountain west law enforcement agencies and their K9’s. They competed in a variety of skills ranging from narcotic work, area searching, suspect apprehension, and handler protection.

We are pleased to announce the Utah County Sheriff’s Office took 3rd place with the Overall Top Agency award with only few points separating the Sheriff’s Office from 1st and 2nd places. Along with 3rd place Top Agency award, the deputies and K9’s were awarded with the following:

Deputy Gordon & K9 Blitz – 1st Place Tactical Obedience

Deputy Sherwood & K9 Akai – 1st Place Area Search

Deputy Sherwood & K9 Akai – 4th Place Agility

Deputy Carter & K9 Havoc – 4th Place Handler Protection

Deputy Mulder & K9 Nico – 4th Place Vehicle Narcotics

Deputy Carter & K9 Havoc – 5th Place Vehicle Narcotics

Congratulations to these deputies and their K9’s! There isn't a more dedicated group of individuals out there. Their dedication and hard work paid off this weekend and no doubt the Sheriff’s Office and citizens of Utah County can be extremely proud.
