THIS IS ONLY A DRILL
(May 25, 2010 - PROVO) -- Utah County Health Department will oversee an emergency exercise at multiple locations throughout the county today. Multiple agencies throughout the region will work together to effectively respond to a mock-terrorist incident during a mass gathering. Security, decontamination and treatment of a large number of people exposed to an unknown biological or chemical agent, and coordination between multiple agencies are just a few of the goals of the drill. The drill will start at BYU's Lavell Edward's Stadium, but expand to several medical centers during the exercise.
"Practicing together as responders is our best way to ensure that we are able to communicate and effectively take action to protect the public in a large-scale emergency," said Jan Rogers, Utah County Medical Surge Capacity Coordinator. "We appreciate the willingness of so many area agencies and volunteers to sacrifice their time and resources in planning and carrying out this event."
THIS IS ONLY A EXERCISE, AND NOT A REAL EVENT.
