Memorial Day Travel
One- to two-hour delays are projected through the I-15 CORE construction zone during heavy travel times over the holiday. To ensure safety, existing narrowed lanes and reduced speeds will be in place and may affect travel time for motorists. Motorists can minimize delays by avoiding I-15 between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, after 12 p.m. on Friday and after 2 p.m. on Monday.
“Stay an Extra Day” Travel Discounts
According to UDOT traffic statistics, the heaviest travel days surrounding summer holiday weekends are the Friday before and Monday after the weekend. Vacationers are encouraged to support in-state travel and reduce delays over summer and holiday weekends by leaving a day earlier or staying a day later. UDOT, in partnership with the Utah Office of Tourism, created the “Stay an Extra Day” program to provide special offers at lodging properties and tourism attractions for those who extend their stay.
