May 18, 6 to 8 p.m., Gene Harvey Chevrolet in American Fork
PROVO, Utah (May 11, 2011) -- If have a teenager (or are one), you probably understand the excitement and freedom that comes with your ability to drive on your own. But SafeKids Utah County, AAA Club, Gene Harvey Chevrolet and the Utah County Health Department also want you to know the responsibility that comes with that newly earned freedom.
To help prepare for that milestone, the Countdown 2: Drive event will help demonstrate several important activities to help make the safe passengers of today, good drivers tomorrow. On Friday, May 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gene Harvey Chevrolet (221 S 500 E, American Fork), community partners will offer a free, fun traffic safety event. Acivities will include a crash car and crash simulator, drunk goggle scooter course, maintenance demonstration, and activities on the dangers of texting while driving. Food and prizes will be offered from such local merchants as Chick-fil-A and Costa Vida. Boy Scouts can also fulfill several Traffic Safety Merit Badge requirements at the event. The event is free and open to the whole family.
