To honor and celebrate all those who have quit smoking, who want to quit and those who plan to never start, a 5K run will be held in Provo. The run will start at the Historic County Court House (Center and University Ave) at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 17. Come to show your support for those who have made this challenging decision. All ages are welcome and a free, light breakfast will be available for all runners.
The Cold Turkey run is being held in conjunction with the Great American Smoke-out, which is November 15. This 5K will be held to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking, and to let people know the rest stops in Utah County abiding by the Utah Indoor Clean Air Act. Frozen turkeys will be given as prizes to first finishers, and any race participant who has quit smoking during the week of November 11, 2012 - November 17, 2012. There will also be a prize drawing for all race participants.
Registration is free and available at wwww.coldturkeyrun.pbworks.com until Friday, November 2, 2012. Race starts promptly at 9:00 a.m., and runners should arrive early. Due to possible inclement weather conditions, there will be no strollers, bikes, or rollerblades allowed on the race course. For more information, see the web site or call 801-851-7099.
