Death Investigation/ Spanish Fork Canyon

Seventeen year old female dies on her way to a church outing.

On Thursday, July 25, 2002 at approximately 12:00 noon the Utah County Sheriff's Office responded to a call in Spanish Fork Canyon regarding the death of a 17 year old female. A local Church youth group from Provo were on their way to an overnight camp out at Bear Tooth near Schofield Resevoir. There were approximately 8 youth traveling in a van when one of the youth became unresponsible while enroute. The Van pulled over approximately 1/2 mile down from the Tucker Rest Area in Spanish Fork Canyon and performed CPR on the 17 year old female. The 17 year old female died at the scene. Sheriff's Deputies and Detectives responded and are currently investigating this case. The 17 year old female will be sent to the Medical Examiners Office to determine the cause of death. Sgt.
