Victim flow to L.D.S. Hospital by Life Flight

Josh Cartee from Sandy, Utah was flown to L.D.S. Hospital by Life Flight after the vehicle he was in rolled down a mountain near Hog Hollow just above Alpine, Utah.

On Saturday, July 12, 2003 at approximately 09:00 A.M. Dispatch received a 911 call regarding a roll over just north of Alpine. Josh Cartee was riding in a Jeep with Jon Kasai from Sandy, Utah. During the night both individuals were driving on dirt mountain roads just north of Alpine, Utah. They rolled their red Jeep near the Hog Hollow area. The Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call at approximately 09:00 A.M. in the morning from a third party. The third party was a friend to Jon and Josh. Josh was laying down approximately 1/2 mile away from the roll over in poor to fair condition. The caller was unsure as to the exact location of both of his friends. Salt Lake County and Utah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Teams started to search for both of the victims. At approximately 10:45 the red Jeep was spotted by SAR members near the Hog Hollow road. Life Flight assisted in the search. Life Flight landed and picked up Josh Cartee and transported him to the L.D.S. Hospital. Josh told searchers prior to him leaving that he thought his friend was in bad shape and bleeding and did not know exactly where he was. Approximately 150 Volunteers were called out from Search and Rescue, Mounted Posse, Sheriff's Office Communications Team, and the Jeep Patrol. A short time after all volunteers were called out, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office located Josh Cartee at his home in Sandy, Utah. Investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding the accident and Jon Kasai leaving the scene of an accident. Investigators are considering charges.
